HIKE THE METACOMET TRAIL

This 63-mile trail runs from Berlin to Suffield, but the best part is right here in Bloomfield. The Metacomet traverses Talcott Mountain, home of the famed Heublein Tower, a 165-foot-high castle built by a vodka baron in 1914 as a gift to his wife.

FISH THE FARMINGTON

Experienced and novice anglers alike will have plenty to write home about after fly-fishing the Farmington River. Regular dam releases provide cold water year-round, helping make the Farmington one of the east’s premier trout fisheries.

GO FOR A GOOD WALK…

The village green isn’t the only stroll-able spot in town. The peaceful paths and pond of Filley Park are a short walk from Heirloom Flats, while the picturesque meadows and oak trees of Samuel Wheeler Reed Park make for an ideal picnic destination.

…OR JUST SPOIL ONE

If it’s too nice outside to hit the Heirloom Flats golf simulator, Bloomfield boasts two world-class public golf courses, Gillette Ridge and Wintonbury Hills. Respectively designed by the great Arnold Palmer and renowned course architect Pete Dye, the courses offer 36 holes of scenic and challenging golf just minutes away.
